New Straw Poll Shows Omeish in Third Place Out of 4 Candidates

LeftoftheHill Blog reports on a New Straw Poll that shows Esam Omeish in Third Place Out of 4 Democratic Candidates for the 35th District at Democratic Committee's annual MayFest fundraiser.

"Mark Keam Wins Straw Poll in 35th District House of Delegates Race"
"In the race to replace Steve Shannon as the Delegate from the 35th District, there was a straw poll among the Democratic candidates at the Providence District Democratic Committee's annual MayFest fundraiser. The results of the straw poll were as follows:"

"Mark Keam 69%"
"John Carroll 15%"
"Esam Omeish 8%"
"Roy Baldwin 8%"

"There's always going to be some question about how reliable straw polls actually are, but I think there are a few trends here that are worth noting. Mark Keam ran away with this poll receiving twice as many votes as the rest of the field combined and four times as many votes as his nearest competitor. This seems to suggest that Mark's campaign was extremely well organized when it came to turning out supporters to this event. That would go along with the fact that Mark is well known among Democratic activists for the work that he's done in the Providence District for Obama and other candidates."

"Of course with polls still showing that many likely primary voters are still undecided in the statewide campaigns that have been receiving attention from the press, this House of Delegates primary is still anyone's race to win. As it stands now, this straw poll is one example of how Mark Keam's campaign is organizing it's supporters in the final stretch. If he's going to win on June 9th, that organizing is going to need to continue and transform into people knocking on doors and making phone calls."

Omeish in Last Place in Latest 35th District Poll

LRP Reports Esam Omeish in Last Place in 35th District Democratic Primary Poll
"According to a recent survey conducted by the nationally-recognized polling firm of Lake Research Partners (LRP), 30-year Vienna resident and family lawyer Roy Baldwin is ahead in the race for the Democratic nominee in the 35th House of Delegates District. The poll shows Baldwin has 11 percent of the vote in the 4-way primary. Fairfax attorney John Carroll is at 7 percent, while Verizon lobbyist Mark Keam and physician Esam Omeish have 5 and 2 percent, respectively. Baldwin commissioned LRP to survey 400 likely Democratic primary voters in the 35th District. The poll was conducted between April 13 and 16, 2009, and has a margin of error of +/- 4.9 percent... These poll results come on the heels of last week's financial disclosure reports, which showed 70 percent of Baldwin's contributions are from within the 35th District and 85 percent of his total funds are from Northern Virginia."

Virginia's 35th District - Stop Esam Omeish

This is a group for Virginia 35th District Campaign Events challenging Esam Omeish, former president of the Muslim American Society (MAS), who has stated that the Islamic supremacist Muslim Brotherhood has been instrumental in defining his views on human rights and justice. Esam Omeish is running for Virginia's 35th District House of Delegate office -- the Virginia Democratic Primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9. In Virginia primaries, both Democrats and Republicans can vote in such a primary, and we encourage bipartisan voting to show the people of the 35th district that we reject supremacism.

We challenge Esam Omeish because of his documented and continued support of the Islamic supremacist Muslim Brotherhood organization, not because of his identity as an American Muslim. We would do so also if Esam Omeish had a history of supporting white supremacism or any other ideology inimical to the universal human rights of equality and liberty. For example, if Esam Omeish had repeatedly stated in print and in public that a white supremacist organization had influenced his values on human rights and justice, we would have the same concerns.

Background on 35th District Democratic Primary Election and Esam Omeish

Esam Omeish is running for Virginia's 35th District House of Delegate office -- Virginia Primary election scheduled June 9. See Omeish’s web site for upcoming campaign activities. Esam Omeish is the former president of the Muslim American Society that the Investigative Project on Terrorism has revealed to be founded by the Islamic Supremacist Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood has as its goals that "Jihad is our way," and seeks to create a global Islamic supremacist caliphate and "mastering the world with Islam." Barack Obama has defined as our enemies organizations that who seek to create a "caliphate."

On April 11, 2009 at his Oakton, Virginia campaign "meet the voters" rally, Esam Omeish told us that Sharia is "wonderful" for the rest of the world. Sharia is a supremacist institution that denies humanity's universally shared human rights of equality and liberty for all people. Sharia promotes inequality and segregation among people of different genders and religions, and seeks to deny human freedoms of speech, press, and conscience. Sharia has been used as the basis for repressing and killing girls, women, homosexuals, and religious minorities.

Esam Omeish also told us on April 11, 2009 that he stands by his position on his 2004 statement that "[t]he influence of Muslim Brotherhood ideas has been instrumental in defining" his worldviews on "tolerance… and human rights." This is the same Muslim Brotherhood that also calls for "Jihad is our way," and who seeks to create the Islamic supremacist caliphate; Barack Obama has stated that our enemies seek to create a caliphate.

In 2007, it was revealed that Esam Omeish had called for "the Jihad way" at a previous rally. The online video of this led to his resignation from an appointment in a Virginia immigration commission.

We believe that an effective Democratic candidate for the 35th district would have values based on the inalienable human rights of equality and liberty for all, not a supremacist worldview. For more on Esam Omeish, the Muslim Brotherhood, and Omeish’s statements on the Muslim Brotherhood as MAS president - see "Why Virginia must understand who Esam Omeish is."

Other 35th District Democratic candidates for the June 9 Democratic primary election are: Roy J Baldwin, Mark Keam, and John Francis Carroll. The general election is in November.

Why Virginia must understand who Esam Omeish is

Documents:
1. Muslim Brotherhood Goals (HTML / PDF)
2. Esam Omeish's own words on how Muslim Brotherhood has been "instrumental" on his views on justice and human rights (HTML / PDF)
3. Barack Obama defining the "enemy" as those who seek to create a "caliphate" (HTML / PDF)

A. SUMMARY

-- Muslim Brotherhood seeks to create a Muslim World (caliphate/Khilafa)
-- We believe there is ONE world, called Earth - with equal rights and liberty for all humanity
-- Barack Obama on "the war we need to win": America's enemies "seek to create a repressive caliphate. To defeat this enemy, we must understand who we are fighting against, and what we are fighting for."

-- Muslim Brotherhood seeks to implement Sharia law
-- We seek freedom for all - regardless of religion, race, or sex - and oppose Sharia's gender apartheid and war on women

-- Muslim Brotherhood thinks Muslims come first
-- We believe humanity comes first

-- Muslim Brotherhood seeks to impose Islam on all
-- We believe humanity has freedom of conscience and religion

-- MAS has supported Muslim Brotherhood, Hizb ut-Tahrir, and groups that call for Islamic surpemacist rule
-- We reject supremacism in every form in favor of equality and liberty for all

-- MAS's Esam Omeish: "The influence of Muslim Brotherhood ideas has been instrumental.... [on MAS] values of human dialogue, tolerance and moderation"
-- We believe that human dialogue, tolerance, and moderation begins with rejecting all supremacist organizations, including the Islamic supremacist Muslim Brotherhood, and that supremacist organizations never teach tolerance or moderation

-- MAS's Esam Omeish: "The influence of Muslim Brotherhood ideas... has been instrumental in defining our worldviews of justice and human rights"
-- We believe that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Declaration of Liberty defines our worldview of the inalienable human rights of equality and liberty for all -- that supremacist groups deny. We believe without such universal equality and liberty, freed from supremacist restraints, there will never be justice, nor will all of humanity have human rights.

-- The Muslim Brotherhood matters in Esam Omeish's campaign because he says so they have defined his worldview of "justice" and "dialogue." Esam Omeish has stated that "influence of Muslim Brotherhood ideas has been instrumental" in his views on human rights and values
-- We believe that an effective Democratic candidate for the 35th district would have values based on the inalienable human rights of equality and liberty for all, not a supremacist worldview

One citation from the document "General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America"makes the objectives of the MB clear: "The process of settlement is a 'Civilization-Jihadist Process' with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions."
